History of Rock'n Riverwalk

In 2000, Rock'n Riverwalk began as the Lunchbox Concert Series on each Friday afternoon from October through June. It was launched by City of Stuart, Stuart Main Street, the Historic Downtown Business Association and the Stuart Green Market as a seasonal event to help increase visitors to the then struggling Downtown Stuart area.

Over time, the event's popularity grew and the downtown traffic increased. The event was renamed RiverWalk Jazz Series and moved to Sundays, but remained seasonal. Stuart News joined as the presenting sponsor, helped produce and promote the shows, helped attract larger crowds and received six awards for their efforts from the Florida Festival & Events AssociationThe Florida Inland Navigation District also played an integral role in supporting the evolution of Rock'n Riverwalk by awarding a grant that funded the iconic sail shades that cover the Riverwalk stage. The beautiful shade structure has made the venue more comfortable for musicians and fans, especially during the hotter summer months.
